I’ve been talking about Jewish Feasts on the blog some lately, and this past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to dig in even deeper.  I just love how the Lord reveals Himself to us!  We had such a sweet mini-retreat at CareNet Pregnancy Centers & Mentoring Programs. Today, I’d like to share with you a portion of my introduction to studying all Seven Feasts in one day…

Everything that the Lord says to us in His word is meaning and profitable.

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped in every good work.” 2 Tim 3:16-17

I love the Lord so because His thoughts and His ways are amazing. He is very precise and calculated.  He is a romantic, His love for us is the single thread that spans from Genesis to Revelation.  He is a Creator and He the first and wisest scientist.  And He is an artist.  There are not enough words to adequately describe our God and I know you know that…

I want us to consider God as paying attention to detail and precision and to His supernatural way to create a masterpiece.

Michelangelo’s statue of The David–have you seen it? It is a sculpture of King David fashioned by Michelangelo.  Read the article about it being carved from a single block of marble.

Read 1 Samuel 16: 1 – 13  Do you imagine that David may have felt? Discarded, untouched or unnoticed maybe for years, like he would require too much work or effort? Waiting for one up to the challenge?

I know that I have personally felt all of those things and I wonder if maybe some us here today would say we can relate to David the shepherd boy.

“In every block of marble I see a statue as pain as though it stood before me, shaped and perfect in attitude and action. I have only to hew away the rough walls that imprison the lovely apparition to reveal it to other eyes as mine see it.”–Michelangelo

Today, I would remind you that is the way the Father sees each of us…not as other see us, but the completed, transformed version of us.

Our God is an artist and He loves symbolism. He sees things that we do not perceive.  The Jewish Feasts are an example of His beautiful communication with us.  Even in His literally rendering of detail to the Israelites, He speaks of Christs love and redemption of us and paints a masterpiece of the timeline of Heaven.

I would love for you to share anything that the Lord reveals to you today. Every time I study the Feasts, I notice something new…there is so much there.

The Hebrew word translated “feast” means “appointed times” The feasts are times that are the Lord Himself appointed to meet with us.  He wrote our names on His calendar.

The Seven Feasts of the Lord:

The Feast of Passover

The Feast of Unleavened Bread

The Feast of First Fruits

The Feast of Weeks, Shavuot, Pentecost

The Feast of Trumpets, Rash Hashana

The Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur

The Feast of Tabernacles

Numbers in the Bible have meaning.  The number seven represents completion and perfection. (I’ll bet you can think of another example of something that happened on a seventh?  God rested on the seventh day because His creation was perfect and complete.)  The Jewish feasts are the full picture of the Messiah, and I’m quite sure the Lord planned it that way.

Who is the Messiah?  That’s right…it’s Jesus.  The seven feasts of the LORD each paint a different picture and give us a different perspective on Christ and our relationship with Him.

I want you to think about a wedding ceremony–there is a lot of symbolism in a wedding ceremony.

Does anyone know what each of these represents?

  • White wedding gown – purity
  • Wedding rings – the circular shape represents eternity because there is no beginning and no end
  • Flower girl – the girl you once were
  • Unity candle –two becoming one

Read Proverbs 2:1-5– if you dial in, and seek with your heart, the Feast will reveal deep truths to us.

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”

Ask Him to reveal Himself in a new way to you today.
