CandyGibbsIdentity2

Earlier this week, I shared with you about our identity in Christ.

The definition of identity is: the fact of being who a person is.

My identity isn’t in how I feel. Some days I feel brave. Some days I don’t.  If I don’t feel brave, am I still brave? My feeling has nothing to do with it. He makes me brave. My identity, my bravery, comes from being His child.

I made a list of things that God’s word says about you…

You have power.

You are forgiven.

You are the righteousness of Christ.

You are chosen, holy, and dearly loved.

You are equipped for good work.

You are provided for.

You are protected.

You are loved.

What of any of that did you accomplish? Not. One. Thing.

If you could earn it, you could lose it. You didn’t earn any of the list above.

So, as I asked the Lord for words to contemplate our identity in Him, He said to me, “Daughter, there is only one word…MINE. Your identity is one of power, strength, forgiveness, love, protection, and promise because YOU ARE MINE.”

This is our true identity—we are His.

You are a daughter of the King. You can’t avoid it, this is not your choice. You just are. It is your birthright by His choice.

Your identity as an heir to the throne cannot be denied. You didn’t earn it, it wasn’t your choice.

But, your choice comes in when you decide Whose bride you are—He knows your heart, He knows what you do and don’t do, He knows your past victories and failures, He knows what others say, but He says “YOU ARE MINE.”

My love,
