Today I have the pure pleasure of sharing the thoughts of a dear friend of mine, Amy Kirkland. You are going to be so encouraged! Let’s snuggle up in Daddy’s lap today and rest! He is a good, good Daddy! ~Candy

This past week my husband was out of town for business. Early one morning while I was getting ready in the bathroom, I hear our youngest daughter, Cydney, chanting “Daddy’s coming home, Daddy’s coming home!”

The Lord immediately began revealing to me the amazing love relationship that Cydney has for her daddy. She is truly a Daddy’s girl. She loves dressing in her cowgirl gear to head to feedyard with her daddy, check cattle in the pickup with her dad, and climb in the recliner for snuggling. When things aren’t going her way, a short time in the lap of dad (or mom) makes everything better. Through these images, God revealed to me that this is the kind of relationship that he desires for me.

I often let the struggles of the day take a toll on me physically and mentally. I fail to run to my Father and crawl on his lap and let Him take away the cares of the day. Just like a child, my heart desires the comfort of the Father. To make the hurt stop, calm my fears, or provide a sense of peace to my life. Instead, I keep trudging along on my own human ways and nothing really gets better. By evening, I am exhausted. I am short tempered with my kids. Nothing goes well until God finally gets my attentions and says “OK, enough!”

Just like Cydney desires to spend time with her daddy and crawling in his lap makes her hurts go away, our Heavenly Father desires that relationship with you and I. He deeply desires for us to crawl in his lap and allow his arms to comfort us and give us peace.

“So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:4 NLV

“He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17 NLV

Why would I choose to spend another day not living life to what God intended it to be? Why would I choose not to relish in each precious moment with my children like the Lord desires for me? Why would I choose to handle my own problems when I could turn them to the Father and let him take care of me?

Maybe you share some of the feelings I have. As a Daddy’s girl, you and I, thankfully, have the ability to crawl into the loving arms of your father for love, rest, and peace. He is waiting with open arms!!
